What is ADJU?
ADJU stands for the Association of the Department of Japanese Studies of the University of Strasbourg.
The idea for this association was first thought of by department students in the summer of 2022. It was then created the following autumn with the support of the pedagogical and administrative teams.
Today, ADJU is officially recognized by the University of Strasbourg as a student association.
ADJU seeks to bring together Japanese Studies Department students around projects that promote exchange and mutual support. Through these activities, we also want to connect with the Japanese community in Strasbourg and exchange students from Japan.
What is the organization of ADJU?
A board consisting of 5 members is responsible for managing the ADJU. It is composed of a president, a vice-president, a community manager, a treasurer, and a secretary. They are elected on an annual basis and can be reelected. Eligibility is restricted to those registered in the Japanese Studies Department of the University of Strasbourg. It is composed of a president, a vice-president, a community manager, a treasurer, and a secretary.

Who can join us?
Like any other association, the dynamism of the ADJU depends on the number of members and their engagement. Any interested adult can become a member of the association. This membership is based on an annual fee, which in return grants the right to vote during the general assembly, as well as allowing discounts and benefits for events and partnerships established by the association.
It is possible to join as a simple member, or as an active member. Active members commit to actively participating in the life of the association by giving their time as volunteers.
What is ADJU doing?
The main actions of ADJU consist in organizing events and workshops for students majoring in Japanese. Thus, in the first few months after it was created, the association set up several activities, such as workshops to help with homework, a calligraphy workshop, and a Japanese reading workshop.
Its activities also include promoting the courses offered by the department and public out reach by participation in University Days, Unistra’s open days, and the promotion of alumni profiles whose career paths are models of professional careers.
ADJU also cooperates with the other language faculty associations to set up joint projects on a larger scale. Several projects are in the development stage.
ADJU also collaborates with the Japanese Consulate and the Maison de la Culture du Japon in Paris.
Finally, ADJU serves as a partner for Japanese events such as Ekiden and Japan Weekend and promotes local stores in Strasbourg.
